About

At CardMedic, we are on a mission to improve health literacy and reduce health inequalities, by making healthcare information more accessible and understandable.

Additional communication needs, including language barriers, deafness, blindness, cognitive impairment and illiteracy, affect access to healthcare and impact nearly 50% of populations; disproportionately exacerbated by socioeconomic inequality.

Failures in communication are the most frequent source of patient dissatisfaction and contribute to medical litigation. Lack of understanding of healthcare information increases morbidity, mortality and mental health issues, reduces medication compliance, prolongs length of stay, increases readmission, worsens outcomes and further burdens healthcare systems.

CardMedic is a unique, cost-effective and multi-award-winning app/webapp that improves communication between healthcare staff and patients, across any barrier including foreign language, deafness, blindness, cognitive problems (such as learning disabilities/stroke/dementia/autism), or literacy issues.

With content globally crowd-sourced from a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, CardMedic hosts an A-Z library of pre-written scripts replicating common clinical conversations, simply and succinctly. Staff choose the topic and display the screen to the patient to guide the clinical interaction. The content can be presented in different languages, sign language videos, easy read with pictures, or read-aloud. An integrated speech-to-text translation tool supports conversations expanding beyond the content of scripts.
