Dynamic Metrics Ltd (DML), is a medical device company that developed GaitSmart®, a unique solution for people suffering from orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions than affect their mobility, including frail older people who have fallen. Our patented sensor based tool accurately identifies and quantifies gait issues and our AI algorithms provide data driven exercise rehabilitation.

GaitSmart supports diagnosis in common conditions that affect gait, such as osteoarthritis, joint replacement or frailty. GaitSmart is a major improvement in an area where judgmental assessment is still prevalent: it is more precise than current functional outcome metrics.
In healthcare around 20% of the population currently has a gait deficiency. Currently these people are diagnosed and treated by physiotherapists, who are under resourced and costly. GaitSmart’s rehabilitation programme provides patients with their report plus a personalised set of exercises based on the GaitSmart data, all within 10 minutes. This provides a much needed portable digital health solution for primary and secondary care. Trials have shown the clinical and economic benefits of implementing our GaitSmart solution.

Successes in UK/NHS
In April 2024, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published NICE Guidance on GaitSmart, to support adoption in the NHS.
GaitSmart is now implemented at a number of NHS sites across England and has strong clinical evidence to support adoption.
We are also in use with a number of healthcare companies that serve the private sector, charities and council run services.
