About

Founded in 2015, Consultant Connect is a telemedicine provider, transforming patient care by improving communications across the NHS. Our ever-evolving and innovative services can connect any healthcare professional to another, reducing unnecessary admissions and appointments, speeding up diagnosis and discharge and shortening waiting lists.

Covering over half of the NHS across England, Scotland and Wales and over 40 million NHS patients, the service enables clinicians to use a unique Dial-In Number or the secure Consultant Connect App to call specialist NHS clinicians for pre-referral advice and guidance. Clinicians can also use Consultant Connect via the app or in their browser to send photos and/or messages directly to specialist NHS clinicians for pre-referral advice and guidance. All calls are recorded for medico-legal purposes, and photos and messages are saved in a secure cloud and never stored on phones.

With more than 50 specialties across urgent, elective and mental health care, we work collaboratively with ICBs, Health Boards, Hospitals, Trusts and Ambulance Trusts, tailoring our services to fit local needs.

 

Our clinically-led Referral Triage and Validation service is also supporting hospital trusts needing additional temporary capacity for referrals. The service uses the clinical expertise of NHS Consultants across 17 specialties who can be brought in on a ‘remote locum’ basis to triage and validate waiting list backlogs in bulk or new referrals as they come in. They can also review and validate follow-up lists to ensure patients are seen/discharged in the most appropriate way. Our Telemedicine Devices, Patient Connect, and Patient Initiated Follow Up services enable providers to mobilise their workforce and maximise efficiency.

Successes in UK/NHS

Consultant Connect grew from its first NHS project mid 2015 and now covers over half of the NHS, across England, Scotland and Wales. The original portfolio was focused on advice and guidance in elective care and has since expanded into urgent care, ambulance services, mental health and community services. The platform has also been expanded to be able to support new pathways, including teledermatology, PIFU and Referral Triage and Validation.
